Field Music's tour van playlist

We caught up with Sunderland brothers Field Music ahead of their headline set on the Folk Forest to find out what they warm up to in the tour van. Contains Timberlake.

We never really play records in the dressing room before we go on-stage. We’re always too busy setting up and doing vocal warm-ups and getting stressed. More common is listening to tunes in the van before we go to a radio session, where we don’t even have time to get stressed and need to sing along with something in lieu of doing proper warm-ups. So here’s our “In lieu of proper vocal warm-ups playlist”

Automatic - The Pointer Sisters

This was one of the tunes of our recent US tour. The long drives fly by when you’re listening to Automatic. Maybe a good start to our warm-ups because it’s so low.

You Make My Dreams Come True - Hall & Oates

We can sing along with this one to get our backing vocals heads on. It’s got a few big “wooh-hoos” too so we can start loosening those vocal chords.

You Should Be Dancing - Bee Gees

The Bee Gees crank it up a level. The vocals are a little bit higher, the tempo is a little higher, the adrenaline is pumping. When this is finished we will definitely be ready to carry some equipment up some stairs.

Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough - Michael Jackson

We should be grabbing guitars and trying to play along here, getting the fingers warmed up. And it’ll get us in the mood to party. You might not spot it from the audience but, honestly, we are partying inside all through our gigs.

Like I Love You - Justin Timberlake

And here’s the test. This is where we find out whether we’re actually ready to sing as high and as sexily as Justin Timberlake. All together now, “IIIIII juswannaluvyoubabeeeey, ye-ee-yea-yeah!”. READY.
